PUBLIC POLICIES of AAUW for action in 2003 are:

- To achieve economic self-sufficiency for all women, and
- To guarantee equality and individual rights for a diverse society.
- To achieve these goals AAUW advocates:
Freedom from violence in our homes, our schools, and our communities. Vigorous defense and expansion of civil and constitutional rights. Choice in the determination of one's reproductive life. Support for the United Nations programs that address human rights as well as women's and girls' concerns. And work to ensure sustainability of Florida's unique ecosystem.
The AAUW Orlando/Winter Park branch had inpact on the following issues:
- We wrote letters to our legislators and to the Governor to protest closing the State Library and dismantling the State Library system. Result: We still have a state library.
- Members wrote letters and telephoned state legislators and the Governor to point out that funding PACE was better economically, as well as more humane, than building more prisons for girls at risk. Result: PACE is still in existance.
