COMMUNITY ACTION PROJECTS

College and University Relations - Connects us with local institutuions including  the University of Central Florida, Rollins, Seminole Community College, and Valencia.

Educational Foundation - Provides scholarships locally and nationally provides research grants by fund rasing events such as the annual Literary Luncheon and the Women's Networking Fair.

Expanding Your Horizons - Program to introduce girls in grades 4 through 8 to careers in science and engineering presented by the University of Central Florida.

Junior Achievement  - Programs designed for elementary age children presented annually in schools.

Legal Advocacy - Supports the defense against discrimination and harassment in higher education  with an annual November program to update members and raise funds.

PACE Center for Girls (Progressive, Academic, Cultural, Education) - We support Orange County PACE by providing volunteers,  mentors and board members,  by serving a Thanksgiving dinner to students and their families, by giving holiday gift boxes to students and by maintaining  the PACE gardens.

Public Policy  We convey women and girls' concerns to legislators in person and by e-mail, including lobbying in Tallahassee with our Women's Coalition partners.

Winter Park Day Nursery - AAUW members volunteer,  assist in maintaining the library and donate books (over 2000 to date).

Women's History Month (March) - Members provide programs and materials to enhance school curricula.
